Winter

Welcome to the Yukon Territory, a place where the sky dances, the silence speaks, and traditions run deep. In this immersive winter experience, you’ll do more than just chase the Northern Lights – you’ll connect with the land, its rhythms, and its people. This is a journey into both the wild north and the wisdom of its First Nations, guided by local Indigenous hosts who share stories, skills, and soul.

Spend nights under the aurora, days learning survival techniques passed down through generations, and even a night in a traditional trapper’s cabin tucked deep in the forest. It’s not just a tour – it’s a cultural awakening.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Whitehorse & Cultural Welcome
Arrive in Whitehorse and transfer to your lodge, set on the edge of the boreal forest. After settling in, gather for an Indigenous welcome ceremony with drumming and smudging. Evening introduction to aurora science and viewing from the lodge’s deck.

Day 2: Land Skills & Northern Lights
After a warming breakfast, head into the woods with your local guide to learn survival basics: building fire without matches, identifying animal tracks, and understanding the natural rhythms of life in the north. In the evening, enjoy a guided aurora viewing by a frozen lake, with warm drinks and quiet reflection.

Day 3: Traditional Crafts & Deep Connection
Spend the day at camp crafting snowshoes or beadwork guided by an Elder or artisan. Stories are shared freely – of ancestors, seasons, and spirit animals. At night, gather around the fire for tales under the northern sky.

Day 4: Into the Forest – Trapper’s Cabin Night
Travel deeper into the wild and arrive at a rustic trapper’s cabin. With no electricity or Wi-Fi, you’ll cook over a fire, fetch water from the creek, and sleep by lantern light. For many, this becomes the most unforgettable night of the trip.

Day 5: Snowshoe Hike & Farewell Feast
Return to the lodge and set out on a final snowshoe through untouched forest trails, spotting signs of lynx, moose, or fox. That evening, a traditional farewell dinner brings the group together to reflect and share.

Day 6: Departure
After breakfast, transfer back to Whitehorse for flights or onward travel. Optional add-on: visit to Yukon Beringia Interpretive Centre.
