Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in St. John’s
Welcome to Newfoundland! Check in at your charming inn in the colorful capital, then enjoy a relaxed welcome dinner with your guide and fellow travelers. Briefing on weather conditions and week’s logistics.
Day 2: Journey to the Coast
Travel by road and ferry to your first remote village — Trinity or Twillingate, depending on weather. Watch as the landscape changes: rugged hills, frozen coves, and signs of wildlife. Evening aurora watch from the bay shore.
Day 3: Frozen Fjords & Boat Expedition
A highlight of the trip — board a specially equipped winter boat and cruise through the ice-laced waters of Bonavista Bay or the Labrador Strait. With luck, spot seals or even a humpback finishing its migration. Warm soup served onboard, followed by local seafood dinner back at the lodge.
Day 4: Life on the Edge
Spend the day exploring the rhythms of coastal living: walk through the village, hear tales from a local storyteller, and if conditions allow, try ice fishing with a resident. Nighttime brings another chance for aurora viewing over the sea.
Day 5: Hike & Move to Second Location
A guided snowshoe or crampon hike takes you along a wild coastal trail. Later, transfer to your second remote lodging — a cabin perched near the cliffs, with full access to stars and skies.
Day 6: Final Coastal Reflections
Enjoy your last full day on the coast. Optional: snowmobile ride to a panoramic lookout, or a quiet afternoon by the fire. Farewell dinner includes a sampling of local dishes like cod tongues and partridgeberry desserts.
Day 7: Return to St. John’s & Departure
Travel back to the capital city, with drop-off at the airport or option to extend your stay. (Extra nights in St. John’s can include Signal Hill hike, local music pubs, or iceberg alley museums.)
Winter sea conditions are weather-dependent: flexibility required
Aurora visibility is high in clear skies along the Labrador coast
Remote areas have limited Wi-Fi – this is part of the charm
Gear rental available for extreme temperatures (layers a must!)
Village visits are respectful cultural exchanges, not tourism showcases
